Frequently asked questions

Can I add a gift from any site or store?

On Happylist, you can add a product from any e-commerce or offline site by clicking on "Add to my Happylist" and filling in fields such as "Item name", "Price", "Photo". You can indicate where to find this gift via two fields: either the "Link" field where you refer your friends to an e-commerce site or via the "Details" field where you indicate where you spotted this gift in a store.

How can I add a gift to my Happylist ?

By clicking on "Add to my Happylist" in the menu at the top of the page, or by going to your Happylist and clicking on the "Add a gift to my Happylist" icon. You can then fill in fields such as "Item name", "Details", "Price", "Photo" and "Link". Soon, these fields will fill in automatically as soon as you enter a link to an e-commerce site.

Do I have to buy the gift via the link on my friend's Happylist ?

At Happylist, you're the king! You can decide to buy the gift wherever you like, online or offline. The most important thing is that it meets your friend's expectations.

Do my friends who want to give me a gift have to pay a commission to Happylist? And do I have to pay to use the service?

On Happylist, EVERYTHING is free! At no time will you be asked to pay for the creation of your account, your Happylist, for sharing your Happylist... On the merchant sites you'll be redirected to, on the other hand, you may be asked to pay a commission, but this depends on the site. So be careful before ordering on the site in question if you don't want to be surprised by some of the extras.

Do I have to register to see Happylist or to offer a gift?

No, you can access Happylists and gifts without registering. However, if you're not registered, you won't be able to see if certain gifts have already been offered, reserved or bought by your friend. So you run the risk of giving a gift you've already received! Nor will you receive reminders of upcoming events or notifications of updates to your friends' Happylist . Finally, you won't have access to the calendar listing all your friends' birthdays and important events.

How can I modify or update Happylist following the receipt of gifts?

You can modify and/or update your Happylist by going back to the "My Happylist" tab. When you hover over one of your gifts, you can choose between: the trash can icon to delete it, the pencil icon to modify it, the "I've fallen for it" button if you've bought it yourself, or the "I received it" button if one of your friends gave it to you as a gift. When you select one of the "I've received it" or "I've fallen for it" buttons, it will turn yellow and your friends will no longer be able to see the details of the gift, so that you don't receive it twice.

What happens when I click on "View details"?

You'll be redirected to a site where the gift is available, if a link has been added to the gift. It's then up to you to decide whether to buy it there or look elsewhere. You don't have to buy it online. If you decide to buy the gift, whether online or offline, don't forget to log in and click on "Reserve" so that other people don't buy it for your friend too.

What happens when I click on "Book"?

When you click on "Reserve", the other Happylisters connected will see that this gift has already been chosen. This prevents your friend from receiving the same gifts twice. Your friend, on the other hand, won't be able to see if any of his or her gifts have already been reserved... so the surprise is preserved! Then, don't forget to get the gift in question or to withdraw your reservation so that your friend doesn't break down in tears on D-Day. After his Happydays, your friend will be invited to update his Happylist to indicate the gifts he has received and avoid duplicates for future occasions.

Why isn't the "See in detail" option available on all products?

If you don't have the "See in detail" option on a gift, it's because your friend hasn't indicated a site where it's available, but that doesn't mean you won't be able to find it on the Internet. It's also possible that your friend has indicated in the description where you could find it, when it's a store that doesn't have an e-commerce site, for example.

How can I share or distribute my Happylist ?

You can invite your friends to visit your Happylist at any time by sharing it on your Facebook wall using the button on the "My Happylist" tab. You can also e-mail the link to your Happylist to anyone, registered or not. All you have to do is copy the URL (link) at the top of your Internet window, which is www.happylist.me/user/first-name, and paste it into your e-mail.

How are gifts paid for and delivered?

Happylist doesn't take care of the payment or delivery of the gifts, since it's up to you to choose the site where you want to buy them, or whether you want to go to the store. It's up to you to check these conditions where you buy the gift.

Is there a risk that I'll receive the same gift twice?

We do everything we can to make sure that doesn't happen: Different messages can be noted on your Happylist gifts: "Reserved by XXX" if one of your Happylisters friends has decided to give you this gift. To keep it a surprise, only your (connected) friends will see this status, not you. "I've fallen for it" if you've bought yourself this gift, "I received it" if you've already received this gift. It's also very important to keep your Happylist up to date by using these last two options. In fact, these three indications will be visible to your friends registered on Happylist, so they won't buy you the same gift twice.
